Guided rock climbing

LA3 202x304 Guided rock climbing

‘Classic Rock’ climbing with Highland Ascents

Experience the classic multi-pitch rock lines of the Scottish Highlands in the hands of our experienced Mountaineering Instructors. Join us for a day of guided rock climbing and let us take you into the breath-taking vertical world of rock climbing on high mountain crags.

Choose to be purely guided for the day, or develop your multi-pitch rock climbing skills and learn about route choice, placing protection and rock climbing technique.

At Highland Ascents, we pride ourselves in ensuring that your day is tailored to your own personal ambitions, so if you have an idea of a climb that you’ve always wanted to do, then we will be happy to be your guide. If not, then there are hundreds of great multi-pitch lines in the UK, so we are certain that we can find one that works for you.  Here are some suggestions and ‘must-do’ classics:

  • Agag’s Groove on the Rannoch Wall, Buchaille Etive Mor – the best VDiff in Scotland?
  • The Long Climb on Ben Nevis – straight up the Orion Face and aptly named!
  • Savage Slit, Coire an Lochain – a classic
  • The Cuillin Ridge traverse – needs no introduction
  • East Face Route on the Old Man of Hoy

Ages and abilities: We have guided climbs that cater for all ages and abilities, regardless of whether you are new to climbing and want to experience your first multi-pitch line, or whether you’re an experienced climber wanting the security of a guide on that harder route you’ve had your eye on.

Group sizes and ratios: We put your safety first so the maximum instructor:client ratio that we will work to is 1:2 – if your party is bigger than 2 people then there will be more than one instructor.

Kit:  We will share a kit list with you when you book, but all you really need are warm and waterproof ‘outdoor’ clothes and footwear. If you have your own climbing harness, helmet and shoes then great, but if not then don’t worry as you can borrow the items for us for free.
